UGC guidelines against ragging

Using Slangs, slurs, and personal appearance comments, as Specy or Baldy would also come under Ragging

The Sub Committee would submit its report to Supreme Court shortly-

The anti – ragging committee came into force under the guidelines of Supreme Court and Former CBI director R. K Raghavan in 2006. UGC then formed Anti – Ragging regulations on recommendations of the committee. It started functioning in every educational institute of the country. For amendments in Anti – Ragging rules, the Ragavan committee has formed a separate subcommittee. With the purview of racial discrimination problems increasing in educational institutes this subcommittee will prepare reports on important issues.

Many negative issues like racial discrimination, harassment, transgender issues, stalking and passing comments on someone’s personal physical appearance will be added under Anti – Ragging regulations. The future upcoming regulations will state what punishments will be imparted on racial discrimination and other stated negative activities. The report by the committee is in the process of submission to the Supreme Court for approval. If approved it is to be added under new Anti – Ragging regulations. Many renowned field experts have been invited for the committee’s next meeting so as to prepare a strong draft against Anti – Ragging issues.
