Rajasthan University Degree distribution program
Less than 8% pass outs came forward
even a month after the University Degree distribution program.
More than sixteen lakhs degrees
waiting to be distributed at 52 centers.
The degree
distribution program of Rajasthan University is not a success even after a
month of its launch. On Wednesday, even after completion of a month also only
1.25 lakhs degrees have been distributed out of a whopping big number of
17,54,000 degrees. Under such circumstances, the lecturers and HOD’s have
requested the University Management to allow the colleges instead of the
centers in the distribution of degrees. At present, each distribution center
has 50 or more college degrees under their purview and this would prolong the
degree distribution process to more than a year.
Notice to 42 colleges-
The college
management organization has sent notices to 42 government colleges of Alwar,
Bahratpur, Dausa, Jaipur, Sikar & Juhnjhunu because of loopholes in
distributions. College principals have been notified to send weekly report of
distribution process to the management.
A look at main colleges of Rajasthan
University-
Maharani College – Ten thousand
degrees distributed out of 1.75 lakhs.
Only 10-12
thousand degrees have been distributed in Maharani College. Around 500 degrees
are being distributed daily.
Maharaja College – Five thousand
distributed out of 1.60 lakhs.
According to
Principal Prof. M.K Pandit, Maharaja College, they have around 1.60 lakhs
degrees for distribution. Approximately 200 degrees are being distributed
daily. Five thousand have been distributed until now. Both teaching and
non-teaching staff is working for the same. This is also affecting the regular
classes and other works. They suggest that those colleges whose degrees are to
be distributed should also be included in distribution process.
Commerce College - Two thousand
distributed out of 70,000.
According to
Principal Naveen Mathur, Commerce College, Only two thousand have come forward
until now to collect the degrees out of 70,000. Many have resubmitted the
degrees that have mistakes in printing etc. He also suggests that local
colleges should be involved in degree distribution.
Rajasthan College – 1 lakh degrees
distributed
According to
Principal Prof Jagdish Prasad, Rajasthan College, A big number of degrees are
in college for distribution and students have not reached in equivalent numbers
for degree collection. They have both teaching and non – teaching staff
assigned for the same.

UGC guidelines against ragging
Using
Slangs, slurs, and personal appearance comments, as Specy or Baldy would also
come under Ragging
The Sub Committee would submit its
report to Supreme Court shortly-
The anti – ragging
committee came into force under the guidelines of Supreme Court and Former CBI
director R. K Raghavan in 2006. UGC then formed Anti – Ragging regulations on
recommendations of the committee. It started functioning in every educational
institute of the country. For amendments in Anti – Ragging rules, the Ragavan
committee has formed a separate subcommittee. With the purview of racial
discrimination problems increasing in educational institutes this subcommittee
will prepare reports on important issues.
Many
negative issues like racial discrimination, harassment, transgender issues, stalking
and passing comments on someone’s personal physical appearance will be added
under Anti – Ragging regulations. The future upcoming regulations will state
what punishments will be imparted on racial discrimination and other stated
negative activities. The report by the committee is in the process of
submission to the Supreme Court for approval. If approved it is to be added
under new Anti – Ragging regulations. Many renowned field experts have been
invited for the committee’s next meeting so as to prepare a strong draft against
Anti – Ragging issues.

Marking system to commence in University Examinations
By Head Chancellor’s Orders
Marking system to commence in
University Examinations-
Marking
system would be applied now to all degree/diploma examinations of higher
education. The Governor Kalyan Singh has ordered all chancellors of government
universities to start the marking scheme to bring transparency throughout in
marking of the answer sheets. In regard to the same all chancellors were sent
letters from the Rajyabhawan on Monday. This new scheme will commence from the
present session. In the prevalent earlier scheme, there is no model for the
checking of answer sheets with the examiners and as everyone’s point of view is
not similar regarding an answer and so different examiners happen to score the
same question differently.
Marking Scheme-
Every
stipulated answer will also be prepared while making the question paper. Also,
it should be made clear in the marking scheme that for an answer what kind and
how many facts and steps need to be inculcated and what marks should be awarded
on the basis of those mentioned steps and facts. Also, it should be made clear
that if any of those facts and steps are missing, then how many marks for each
should be cut.
The
examiners will have to make this marking scheme public on the website after
they have checked and awarded the marks so that the students can also calculate
and access their marks and progress.
