Rajasthan University gems are shining throughout the country 

The 70th foundation day of Rajasthan University will be celebrated on Friday. According to program convener Prof. Naveen Mathur, “The program would be held at the humanities hall commencing at 10 am Friday morning. The chief guests would be home minister Gulab Chand Kataria and Social law and welfare minister Arun Chaturvedi. Prof. Chancellor JP Singhal would anchor the program. 


The A plus grade university from NAAK has its history of its own. Many pass outs from Rajasthan University have become big names in the country. They are from various fields like Politics, Films, Medical, Sports, Education etc. 

Ex IAS DDR Mehta is also one of these gems. Mr. Mehta is the founder of Bhagwan Mahavir Disabled Help Committee. He studies BA and LLB from the university. In his service, he has been on prestigious posts of Chairman of Sebi and Deputy Governor of Reserve bank. He has been awarded with Padmabhushan in 2008.

In 2004, Rajasthan University was given A plus grade by NAAK (National assessment and accreditation council) after seeing its overall performance. According to rules, this accreditation expired in 2009. After that Prof Devsawroop, the present VC of University had written to NAAK and tried again in this regard. Deepak Bhatnagar was made convener for the same. Therefore, Rajasthan University is in the race again for A plus grade this year. The proposal file was sent to NAAK on 30th September for the certificate.

NAAK is an independent autonomous body established by UGC in 1994. It accredits the higher education institutes in the country. The grade is granted for 5 years. A, B, C and D grades are granted for the same. The team ranks the university in 4 points after visiting the premises. A grade is granted after coming above than 3.5 rank. 
NAAK team will decide upon the grade in Feb 2016.

The team of experts from NAAK will visit the university between 24 and 27 Feb. 2016. The team will investigate the reports sent by Rajasthan University and check what the real state of matters is. The team works on many guidelines like vision of university, overall performance, infrastructure, and the timeline of programs, number of teachers, and the output of research. In addition, the extra curriculum activities, achievements of students and teachers and discipline of campus are also seen along with the examination system.

MODERN LIBRARY BLUEPRINT READY IN RAJASTHAN UNIVERSITY

It would take 18 months to complete. Central library is being expanded at Rajasthan University. The empty place behind the present library would be used to make the modern library. Its blueprint has been prepared, but it would take 18 months to be completed. This will be made with a budget of Rs. 11.87 crore. It is being developed by state road development and RSRDC. MOU procedure is ongoing between the University and RSRDC.

Around 3 to 4 thousand visit the central library daily. The 2 main reading halls, research hall  and an another room do not suffice because at a time only 7 to 8 hundred students can be accommodated here so the students have the only option to use the present library on a first come first serve basis. That is why the library is being expanded. The administration had decided to use the 5000 sq m area behind the present library to be used for the development of the modern library.
